Grinding Gear Games has changed the balance of power for certain builds in Path of Exile 2, with the Sorceress being hit the hardest. Although GGG has provided some global buffs for all classes, this patch has caused some controversy as many feel their builds have become broken. We’ll talk about Patch 0.1.0d and what makes it so divisive.

The Sorceress Cast in Freeze Dinerfed to the Ground

Before the patch, many Sorceress players relied on the skill interaction between Cast on Freeze and Comet. Her passive states that every time a target is frozen, they will gain energy, and when enough energy is accumulated, the skill gem entered to cast on the freeze will take place without requiring mana or requiring casting time.

This build makes Comet easy to spam, dealing large amounts of AoE damage to monsters and bosses. Because of this, GGG decided to nerf Cast on Freeze.

What makes this change so controversial is that Cast on Freeze is now changed to require more Energy to produce a skill while reducing the amount of Energy gained when inflicting Freeze. This makes Cast on Freeze practically useless, as it now requires a total of 11 Freeze effects to cast one Comet.

Even though this change was announced a few days before the patch launched, the main character Sorceress is now stuck with a broken character. Since assigning points on the Passive Skill Tree costs 1000 gold per node, these players are now broke due to the high overall cost. Many in the PoE 2 community were disappointed after this change and requested free specs from GGG as many could not afford the cost.

Dodge Roll fans

GGG has addressed the issue of enemy body blocking and how annoying it was to handle, especially against Act 2 scarabs. Dodge rolls will now change characters from 1 unit to 0, allowing them to bypass enemies. This will also push away nearby enemies, so a body hit by a monster no longer means death.

Chaos Change Trial

Mobs in Trials of Chaos will no longer have increased density, instead groups will become more uniform and also reduce the difficulty of certain modifiers. Lastly, AoE modifiers like Blood Orbs and Stormcaller Runes will no longer appear whenever you stand on the Vaal Orb elevator or platform.
