WoW Classic is getting new servers so players can enjoy TBC again. Gamers have been begging Blizzard to release a new vanilla realm, and the developers have finally agreed since Cataclysm players moved to Pandaria. However, the new servers will make significant changes that will provide better speeds for the community. Here’s everything you need to know.
What are the Changes to the New WoW Classic Server
Spaced Updates
As part of WoW Classic’s 20th Anniversary, New Servers offer players the chance to experience it all from the start. One of the most significant changes in this new world is how content will be placed. The following is the release schedule for each raid:
- Phase 1: Liquid Core and Onyxia
- Phase 2: World Boss and Battlegrounds Warsong Gulch & Alterac Valley
- Phase 3: Blackwing Nest Attack and Dark Moon Exhibition
- Phase 4: Zul’Gurub Assault and Arathi Basin Battlefield
- Phase 5: Temple of Ahn’Qiraj Raid and Ruins of Ahn’Qiraj Raid
- Phase 6: Scourge Invasion, Naxxramas Assault, and Silithus World PvP
At launch, players will primarily focus on the leveling experience, but they can reach level 60 if they want to gain power levels. Generally, players will have a relatively more relaxed leveling experience. Molten Core will be available three weeks after launch.
PvP, PvE and Hardcore servers
Regarding servers, Blizzard announced that they will start the launch with one PvE server, one PvP, and one Hardcore server. They will add more realms as needed to avoid the problems that occurred at launch in 2009. Servers will be released slowly depending on how many servers are available.
Another cool feature is that Hardcore players can transfer to any PvP or PvE server after dying. Instead of remaining dead, they can migrate their deceased characters to one of the available realms. So, for players who regret going into Hardcore, they just have to jump off a cliff and die to migrate to another server. The transfer is also completely free.
Quality of Life Update
Although the New Server will adopt a #NoChange Policy, several quality changes will be implemented in the coming weeks. Once the realm is online, Guild and Group finders will be available by default. Luckily, gamers can turn off this UI by enabling the Classic Guild UI in the Interface.
Another big quality of life is the faction balancing adopted from Season of Discovery. This system will always maintain population balance between the Alliance and the Horde. If too many Horde characters exist, new players will be forced to create Alliance-only avatars until the population rebalances. This system ensures fair scaling of PvP forces.
This is a significant change coming to the new server. However, players can still hope that some of SoD’s features will be adapted eventually. This includes the existence of dual specialization and talent templates.
